Mombasa County Commissioner Mohammed Nur has vowed to deal with all criminal outfits terrorising Mombasa residents.
Nur said there has been a re-emergence of criminal gangs in Mombasa, adding that security agencies have been arresting and charging the criminals in court, however the network remains big.
Speaking in Mombasa, Mr Nur singled out Likoni Sub County as the most affected with several criminal gangs coming up every day, stating that police will not relent in battling the criminal gangs.
According to Nur, security agencies have been combing the area reiterating that no one engaging in criminal activities will be spared.
“The problem is that when we arrest and take them to court they are later released back to the communities to indulge in the same criminal activities. We will deal with this situation,” said Nur.
He said security details are closing down on a renowned criminal gang leader only known as ‘Governor’ with Nur assuring Likoni dwellers that they will soon nab him.
The Administrator further noted that there are many opportunities for the youth to engage in and earn money especially the digital space, advising the youth to positively use the digital opportunities so that they can earn revenue.
“We are appealing to the youth themselves to engage and encourage each other so that they drop crime and pick development agenda and technical skills available,” said Mr Nur.
He also challenged religious leaders, non-governmental organisations and community leaders to always engage the youth and lead them to the right path away from crime and other irresponsible behaviours.
The Mombasa County Commissioner further called on parents to take seriously their parenting roles so that they bridge the gap between themselves and their children.
