Former Kisauni Member of Parliament Ali Mbogo has backed the nomination of former Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho to the Mining docket.
Mbogo says Joho is not only from Mombasa but a coastal kid who should be supported to sail through the appointment process and while at the helm of the Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Ministry.
Speaking in Mishomoroni, Kisauni Sub County, Mombasa, Mbogo stated that Joho might have his weaknesses and downfalls but such should not be used to destruct him from performing his mandate if he becomes the Mining Cabinet Secretary.
According to Mbogo, Joho is one of the Coast representative to the Cabinet and the coastal people should be happy and support one of their own in such top role in the government.
“Let’s all back President William Ruto’s appointments so that the new cabinet delivers to Kenyans,” further stated the LAPSSET Development Authority Chairperson.
Joho, during his vetting vowed to clean the mining sector, revealing that it is flooded by cartels.
According to Joho who is worthy 2.36 billion shillings, Kenyans should be educated and be involved in developing the mining sector, so that they clearly understand the benefits of such resources to them and the nation as well.
“My first assignment if the parliament approves my appointment will be to deal with cartels and clean the mining sector as well as focus on the revenues that we can reap from the Blue Economy aspect,” he told the Parliamentary Select Committee on Appointments headed by Parliament Speaker Moses Wetangula last Sunday.
