Lamu Deputy Governor Raphael Munyua is dead.
Munyua took his last breath at the Nairobi hospital on Friday evening while receiving urgent treatment.
Munyua has been in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) since July this year and breathed his last on Friday evening.
President William Ruto mourned the late Munyua terming him as a progressive leader.
Lamu Governor Issah timammy mourned Munyua as a dedicated leader who championed for the wellbeing of Lamu people.
On his part, Lamu youth activist Yunus Ahmed Is’hakia said, DG Munyua worked with communities to transform their lives and will be missed by many.
“Rest in Peace, Raphael Munyua. My heartfelt condolences to your family and the people of Lamu. You’ve endured so much in this life, and while it’s painful, we know no one lives forever. May your soul rest in peace, my brother. I pray to the Almighty to comfort your family during this difficult time,” said Mr Yunus.
