The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) has vowed to delete obnoxious content of the two artists Embarambamba and Getumbe from all social media handles including Youtube.
The Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) on its part has already initiated a process to expunge the two from the society.
This resolution adopted during the recent special AGM indicated that the two members will be deregistered and will not earn any royalties from the Society for the next five years.
A repeat of the offence will earn the two a life ban from the Society.
“We must get rid of this madness and restore sanity. Content creation can be done with dignity it deserves so that we do not ruin our own Society,” said MCK CEO Dr Ezekiel Mutua.
The sentiments follows the recent fight between Dr Mutua and the two artists who their songs have elicited heated debate among the public.
The recent production ‘Yesu Ninyandue’ by constroversial Kisii Pastor William Getumbe was said to be blasphemous in nature and should not appear anywhere in the media or social media.
In the 5 minute long song on Youtube ‘Yesu Ninyandue (Where the word ‘Nyandua’ in sheng language means ‘sex’) the pastor calls on Jesus to impregnate him.
MCSK insists that the song is against the morals and should not be given any airplay under any circumstances and in any media be it the social or mainstream.
Together with another Kisii gospel artist, Christopher Nyangwara Mosioma famously known as Embarambamba the duo produced Imejaa where they imply ‘the house of God is full’.
However, under the song Imejaa, Getumbe is almost naked, putting on a diaper, another production the MCSK strongly disowns saying such songs should not see the light of the day.
Defense
However, Pastor Getumbe says the song ‘Yesu Ninyandue’ is not blasphemous in nature as depicted by Dr Mutua.
According to Getumbe, a graduate with Bachelors in Counseling Psychology from Mount Kenya University, Dr Mutua was wrong by addressing the issue through the media instead of directly engaging the artist.
“I am not deleting my content on Youtube and any other social media platforms. Infact my new song Nyundo ya Yesu Imesimama is in the pipeline. It will be out soon,” he retorted.
