Former Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has embarked on a journey to claim the Coast political Kingpin title.

Joho, the first Mombasa County Governor recently resurfaced in the Coast political scene after the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party raised concerns that the party was slowly disintegrating following Joho’s absence and silence.

It seems the ODM Deputy Party leader heeded the political cry from his vast coastal region supporters and returned back home to ‘make political things’ right.

Meanwhile Joho has renewed his quest for presidency in the 2027 general elections.

Joho says he will not back down in his quest for presidency in the next general election.

“This time round, a child from the Coast region by the name Ali Hassan Joho will vie for the presidency in 2027 general election. However, my dream will materialise if you my Coastal people will back my bid,” said Joho in Malindi after distributing Ramadan reliefs to Muslim faithful in the area.

He noted that for years, the Coast region has been adding political numbers to other political parties from other regions, urging the coastal people to raise their political bargain bar very high.

“For us to accomplish these political goals, we should embrace unity and one coastal voice, nothing else,” added the ODM Deputy Party Leader.

A section of Coast political leaders vowed to back Joho’s bid for the 6th Kenya’s president.

Mombasa Senator Mohammed Faki said that the Coast region will no longer remain cosy bed for politicians or political parties from other regions.

“Let us remain united, focused and set our Coast political goals straight. We must change our political script so that we are no longer political ladder for others to climb,” said Faki.

His sentiments were fully echoed by Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo who reiterated the need for Coast unity.

“With all these political sentiments goals and plans, without unity we will achieve totally nothing. Let’s remain united for a noble political course,”

Among the leaders present during the political forum were Likoni MP Mishi Mboko, her Mvita counterpart Mohammed Soud Machele, Kilifi Woman representative Gertrude Mbeyu among other Coast ODM political leaders.
