Former Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has once again hinted of vying for the top job come 2027 general polls.
Joho, while accompanying ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga during a meet and greet people in Kongowea, Mombasa on Tuesday said that he will go for nothing less than the top country’s job.
According to the ODM Deputy Party leader, Coast should be represented in the battle for the top seat, further urging the coastal people to back his political ambitions.
“As a matter of fact I will be in the ballot come 2027, the Presidency is not reserved for anybody,” stated Joho.
Joho has been lying low since the end of his second term as Mombasa County Chief, however he resurfaced on Tuesday accompanying Raila and the current Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir among other Mombasa ODM political leaders.
Joho made similar remarks before the 2022 general elections ad even paid a cool one million shillings to the ODM Party so that he could be nominated for the seat, but his ambition would later be politically disintegrated after the party settled for Raila.
But the vocal politicians is at it again, saying this time he will pursue his politically dream.
Joho, a renowned Coast politician continued building his political career, attracting massive followers throughout his leadership as Kisauni Member of Parliament and the first Mombasa governor.
During the Tuesday political tour in Kongowea, Nyali Constituency, ODM Leader Raila Odinga said that his supporters will decide on who will take the mantle ready for the 2027 general elections presidential battle.
“Kalonzo has backed me for long and we have been working with him throughout, if members will decide that I support my brother Kalonzo then so be it,” Raila said.
Azimio la Umoja coalition where ODM is an affiliate member is said to be pairing the Wiper party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka with Dap-Kenya political party Leader Eugene Wamalwa as his running mate.
However, both pliticians have remained mum on the Azimio political pot specifically about who will battle Ruto in the next general election.
“Those who think President William Ruto cannot tumble and become first term President are lying to themselves, nothing good the President has brought to Kenyans apart from suffering and hopelessness,” noted Wamalwa.
