Former Kisauni Legislature Ali Menza Mbogo has vowed to unseat Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir in the 2027 Mombasa gubernatorial battle.
Mbogo said that his main aim is to serve Mombasa residents diligently with utmost dignity and without any form of discrimination.
He noted that Mombasa county needs impartial leadership that will focus on community growth.
He added that the focus should be the growth of the youth and women economically, and ensuring their views are fully considered for smooth running of the county.
The former Lawmaker further revealed that Mombasa county government has so far received a whopping 20 billion shillings since the incumbent, Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir took oath of office in September 2022, but he has not utilised the funds for development purposes.
“In the first financial year the National government disbursed 13 billion shillings for development in Mombasa county and later added a whopping 7.5 billion shillings for the second financial year, have you seen any tangible development projects in your areas?” he posed as he addressed Mtongwe residents in Likoni, Mombasa.
Mbogo said he will not back down in his quest for Mombasa county top job as it is evident the current governor has failed in his mandate to transform the county development wise.
The LAPSSET Chairperson said Mombasa needs a true leader who is always at the grassroot level working with communities, engaging communities in solving problems and whose government will be transparent enough for public scrutiny.
“We want to streamline this county, we can feel the failure in our locality, disbursement of bursaries has been marred with divisive politics and discriminantion, no clean and sufficient water in our residential areas, these are just few indicators of a failed Mombasa county government,” reiterated Mr Mbogo.
The politician promised Nassir some serious political battle in the Mombasa 2027 gubernatorial race, appealing to Mombasa residents to cease being dangled by poor leadership again.
The former Legislature once more poked holes in Nassir education credentials, urging government investigation agencies to swing into action and analyse the governor’s education.
