Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura now claims that Generation Z, leading national protests against the Finance Bill, 2024 are being pushed by International forces to do so.

Mwaura says the protests are as a result of President William Ruto’s stance on Russia and dedollarisation.

In his Sunday address, Mwaura said the protests against the Finance Bill has international backing.

Meanwhile renowned influencer, Billy Simani famously known as Crazy Billy or Crazy Nairobian has been released.

This was after the Law Society of Kenya’s (LSK) three days of relentless search of the influencer.

LSK President Faith Odhiambo cautioned the government against victimising any of the protesters, saying the hard stance will only worsen the situation.

“We demand the release of any Content creator, influencer or any youth detained in any police station. They are doing the rightfully thing for this nation and not at any point are they flouting any laws, so please they should all be released,” said the LSK President.

Ms Odhiambo noted that Gen. Z protests against the Finance Bill is critical for the nation as they are not only defending themselves and their future lives against exorbitant taxation by the government but also defending the Mama Mboga and Bodabodas who are their parents.

“The government and specifically President William Ruto should read what is clearly written on the faces of Kenyans. We are hopeless than never before. We have to redirect our path as a nation,” She said.

Meanwhile, the Amnesty International has called for immediate release of all Content creators arrested over Finance Bill demos.

In a statement on Sunday, Amnesty said the Gen. Z is exercising their constitunal right, adding that all those detained by police should be unconditionally released.

On Sunday, the protests continued with a special focus on occupying churches.

The youth demanded to be given space to address congregants inside churches with an objective of creating awareness to Kenyans on the contents and negative impact of the Finance Bill 2024 to Kenyans.

At Holy Family Basilica Catholic church in Nairobi, the Gen. Z were allowed to address the faithful, where they urged Kenyans to reject the Finance Bill and make it difficult for all the Members of Parliament who back the Bill.
