MOMBASA, Kenya — November 3, 2025—Team Elkana Jacob Mashinani Nyali and Team Elkana Jacob Foundation held a consultative meeting with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Nyali Sub-County Returning Officer, Elizabeth Kuvuna, at her office.
The meeting aimed to explore effective strategies for bringing IEBC voter registration services closer to the community, with the ultimate goal of increasing voter registration and participation across Nyali Constituency ahead of the 2027 General Election.
During the discussions, the teams proposed the decentralisation of voter registration services by deploying IEBC officials to easily accessible local points such as schools, community centers, and markets in areas including Ziwa La Ng’ombe and Kongowea wards.
A key focus of the meeting was youth mobilisation, with an emphasis on engaging unregistered youth through schools, colleges, and youth organisations. The team proposed mobile registration units to be set up during community events and market days to reach more potential voters.
On inclusivity and accessibility, the delegation underscored the need to ensure that women, persons with disabilities, and the elderly can register with ease by bringing services closer to residential areas and introducing flexible registration hours.
Both parties also agreed to collaborate on civic education and awareness campaigns through local media, religious institutions, and community barazas to emphasize the importance of voter registration and civic participation.
The meeting was described as highly productive and marked a milestone in the ongoing efforts to enhance inclusive democratic engagement in Nyali.
Team Elkana Jacob reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the IEBC to promote voter participation, civic education, and inclusive democracy across the constituency.
According to the team, a detailed schedule and official posters on the voter registration outreach plan will be shared to the public soon.
