Coast-based journalist and renowned Digital content creator, Steven Mwalili has landed at Mo Radio, a vibrant youthful urban radio station located in Nyali, Mombasa.

At the station, Mwalili will assume the roles of a Presenter and Content producer for the station’s digital platforms.

His responsibilities include producing and presenting timely human interest news stories from across the coastal region and beyond.

The duties are further pegged on special coverage of current affairs, exclusive interviews, features, documentaries, podcasts, and other forms of regional content.

The flexible Mwalili will also collaborate closely with the radio news and programming teams to source content, a strategy aimed at expanding the station’s reach.

Mo Radio, owned by Nyali MP Mohammed Ali targets the youthful audience as depicted in its youthful entertainment shows through a mix of music, news, and engaging programs both on-air and via its various digital platforms and social media.

Seasoned

Before joining Mo Radio, Mwalili worked as a Freelance journalist and Independent content producer in Mombasa, having left the first Coast regional FM station, Baraka FM in 2017.

Over the past six years, the multi-talented journalist has been actively involved in the digital space content creation and managing several platforms, including his own brand, “Mwalili Exclusive,” where he created a variety of content, including documentaries, features and commercials in audio-visual form.

“It has been a fulfilling journey working as a freelancer. Full of hurdles and challenges but with vast valuable learning opportunities especially in understanding how the digital space operates,” Mwalili revealed during an exclusive interview with Jambo News.

He added that the opportunity to work with Mo Radio come at a time when he was baffling on how to get back to the game! and apply what he has gathered outside the mainstream media in the past years.

“Since I’ve been deeply involved in the digital space, I was seeking a media house that embraces both conventional and digital platforms. I believe I’m now in the right place because Mo Radio has dedicated itself in reaching its audience through both aspects,” revealed the young but hopeful and focused media personality.

Mwalili’s appointment come as Mo Radio ramps up its efforts to tap into the digital space, aiming to stay current and afloat with new trends by recruiting young, talented journalists and digital content creators who can help elevate the station’s vision.
