Public Service and Delivery Management Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has lashed out at Kenya Kwanza government over a series of abduction, arbitrary arrests and forcibly disappearances in the country.
In a twist of events, Muturi serves the Kenya Kwanza Government he is condemning.
This follows the abduction of his son Leslie Muturi in Nairobi’s Lavington area. Leslie was later released without any charges pressed against him.
“Since I am also a victim while serving in this government, I have taken this unusual step so that abductions and extra-judicial activities can be debated in the country in order to find a solution. If left unchecked, it can plunge the country into chaos and anarchy,” said Muturi.
The former National Assembly Speaker expressed his worries that the country is heading to the wrong direction, coincidentally confirmed the claims of human rights defenders who have been criticising the government for gross human rights violations.
“If youths have issues with the government that they want to raise, let us allow them to do so because that is what democracy is all about. We are a democratic country. It is our duty as government to ensure that everybody lives freely and is able to say what they think,” said a visible angered Muturi, during a press conference at Nairobi’s Serena hotel.
His sentiments were equally shared by former Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua.
Gachagua blamed Ruto’s government for the abduction and extra-judicial killings witnessed in the country.
“We want to inform William Ruto that those young Kenyans inherited abuses from you. You have been abusing people all along. Its you who called Uhuru Kenyatta a drunkard, it’s you who called Raila Odinga a witch, it is you who told Kenyans are stupid, it’s you who told Kenyans that they are mad and possessed with evil spirits, It’s you who is sending your attack dog to abuse Trans-nzoia Governor George Natembeya whereas you sit down laughing,” said Gachagua.
He carried on, “It’s you who told Farah Maalim to abuse Kenyans using unpalatable words in your meetings. So if the young Kenyans have no dislike and they are drawing you in a coffin, they have learnt bad manners from you,”
The concerns come as Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen vowed to crack the whip on Social media users criticking the government.
According to Murkomen, all those who will misuse the social media and draw leaders in coffins will be arrested and charged.
