Interior Cabinet Secretary Professor Kithure Kindiki has gazetted Wednesday, April, 10 as Public Holiday.
This is to enable Muslim faithful to mark Eid Ul-Fitr.
Muslims globally have been fasting for the last 29/30 days as one of the critical pillars of the Islamic religion.
However, Kindiki’s statement contradicts that of Chief Kadh Sheikh Abdulhalim Hussein who earlier stated that, “29 Ramadan will correspond with April, 9 2024. Depending on the sighting of the crescent, Eid-Ul-fitr shall be either on April, 10 or 11, 2024,”
He continued, “However, the Eid-Ul-Fitr Public Holiday shall be on Thursday, April, 11 2024 calculated after the maximum 30 days Lunar month for logistical reasons,”
Sheikh Hussein has wished all Muslim faithful blessed Eid-ul-Fitr urging them to continue observing the basics and the teaching of Holy Q’uran and never to abandon prayers even after Ramadan.
“May Allah (God) accept our fast, prayers and good deeds and grant us grace to witness other Ramadan in good Health and strong faith,” further stated Sheikh Hussein.
