The leadres who have been in Lamu, Tana River, Kilifi and Kwale county on Thursday in a bid to register more members into the Orange Democratic Party (ODM), said, Raila is the best person to take the mantle from President William Ruto in the 2027 battle for presidency.

Right candidate

Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir noted that the Coast leaders have no any other choice for the best candidate to oppose Ruto’s leadership apart from Raila Odinga.

“We Coast Leaders and Kenyans at large we declare today that Raila Odinga is our Presidential candidate of choice come 2027 general elections. This is not a request but a demand,” noted Nassir.

He urged Kneyans to join ODM Party so that they prepare early enough to overturn the Kenya Kwanza political tables in the next general polls.

His sentiment was backed by Kilifi Governor, Gedion Mung’aro who said whatever decision Raila will make, the ODM supporters in Kilifi will back it up.

“Our Party leader Raila Odinga clearly knows that we are his big supporters here in Coast, we are ready to abide by his decisions in whichever case. We are equally prepared for the next general elections,” he said.

The ODM leaders were addressing the public in Ukunda, Kwale county during an ODM members registration drive.

Likoni MP Mishi Mboko and Mombasa county woman representative Zamzam Mohammed also vowed to back Raila’s decision to battle it again for the sixth time in a row in 2027 general polls.

Not so soon!

However, the ODM Leader distanced himself from the 2027 politics, urging politicians to focus on their various roles and mandates they were elected to execute.

Raila though he did not declare that he will be in the ballot come 2027 general polls, he reiterated that his current effort is pegged on strengthening ODM Party for proper future leadership.

“I have not declared my political position on the 2027 general elections yet, at the moment let’s work on strengthening our political party and serve Kenyans at our different capacities,” he said.

The ODM top brass will camp in Taita Taveta county on Friday before winding up the ODM members registration drive on Saturday at the Makande primary grounds in Mombasa.
