Christians across the world marked Ash Wednesday with religious leaders in the country calling for repentance and praying for the nation.
In Mombasa, Catholic Archbishop Martin Kivuva urged Catholic faithful to spend more time in prayers, repentance and praying for the nation.
The Mombasa Archdiocese Archbishop noted that the fasting period is very important in the Catholic faithful calendar, urging every believers to abide by the holy teachings of the Bible.
According to the Archbishop, its time Catholic faithful deter from engaging in evil deeds and always do good to others.
Addressing a congregation at the Holy Ghost Cathedral in Mombasa on Wednesday, during Holy Ash Wednesday 1 pm mass.
During Lent, Catholic faithful will observe fasting during the day for forty days a period that will culminate with Easter where the faithful will celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ according to Catholic faith.
