Chief Kadh Sheikh Abdulhalim Hussein has weighed into the Muguka ban debate, appealing to Muslim faithful to deter from drugs and substance abuse.

Sheikh Hussein who was addressing congregants at the Tononoka grounds during the marking of Eid-Ul-Adhah on Sunday, urged Muslims to abide with the teachings of the Holy Q’uran and cease indulging in anything that is against the will of God.

The Muslim cleric said Muslims men and the youth are the most affected with the menace, urging them to walk out of the menace before they are totally immersed into the wrath of drug use.

“As we mark Eid-Ul-Adhah and remember our Father of faith, Ibrahim, we should remember that our bodies are holy trinity of Allah (God) and we should not misuse them,” he reiterated.

He further asked Muslim faithful to stick to the religion and always seek guidance from him or other religious leaders whenever they feel things are not working out well.

“We must strengthen our faith. It is wrong for us to go against the teachings of God. We are the first people to abuse drugs, indulge in irresponsible sexual behaviours among other evil deeds in the society, we should stop these behaviours,” he said.

Sheikh Hussein’s remarks comes amid heated debate on the ban of Muguka in Mombasa and other coastal counties, apart from Kwale county that is heavily taxing Muguka traders.

The Chief Kadh appealed to the faithful to pray for the thousands of Muslims who went to Mekkah for pilgrimage so that they return home safely.

He also urged Muslims to share with the needy in the society during the entire Eid-Ul-Adhah celebrations.

Unity

Same comments were shared by Muslim cleric Sheikh Abou Qattada who called for unity among Muslims cautioning against divisions.

Sheikh Qattada said unity among Muslims is very critical as such will enable them have single strong voice to deliberate in depth issues revolving around the welfare of the Muslim community.

“Let’s work with our Chief Kadh, deliberate critical issues with him and chat the way forward. We should not be talking at each other but properly engage our Muslim brothers and sisters so that we advance our issues to the relevant authorities,” he said.
