An autopsy conducted on the body of a teacher cum blogger Albert Ojwang has indicated that he died of head injuries, neck compression and multiple soft tissue injuries consistent with assault.

According to lead pathologist Bernard Midia, the injuries were externally inflicted and thrashed any suicide attempts.

Midia further indicated that the injuries also showed some signs of struggle.

“The bleeds found on the scalp, on the skin of the head were spaced, including on the face, sides of the head, and the back of the head. When we tie up together with other injuries that are well spread on parts of the body including the upper limbs and the trunk, then this is unlikely to be self-inflicted injury,” added the pathologist.

The findings trashes Inspector General of police Douglas Kanja’s earlier conflicting and contradictory statement that Ojwang died from self-inflicted injuries.

Ojwang, had reportedly posted a critical message about Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat on social media.

On Saturday June, 7, 2025, Ojwang was picked up by DCI officers in Homa Bay and transported to Central Police Station in Nairobi where on Sunday morning he was pronounced dead in police cells under unclear circumstances.

Activists have been calling for urgent actions against all police officers involved in the killing of Social media influencer cum teacher Albert Ojwang.

The activists stated that police were fully involved in the murder of the blogger, saying that Kenyans have completely lost trust in the National Police Service.

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has launched an inquiry on what led to the death of the popular social media influencer Albert Ojwang.

On Monday, The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) president Faith Odhiambo demanded answers over the killings stating that the clashing public statement from the Inspector General of police Douglas Kanja are far from resolving the matter.
