Former Kisauni Member of Parliament Ali Mbogo has once again appealed to Mombasa students to focus on how to build their lives especially after school.

Mbogo stated that no one will shape the students’ lives except themselves who are in charge of their future.

Addressing Kongowea Secondary School students recently during a mentorship session at the school, Mbogo noted that the students have all the time to decide what they want in life, reminding them that they will not be under parental care for their entire life.

Mbogo brought to tears the students after narrating his painful youthful life, growing up under economic hardships and missing school at the Aldina Visram Secondary school because his parents could not afford school fees.

“If I went through such tough situation in life and I never gave up, and in fact I excelled, then there is absolutely no reason for you to back down in your studies,” said Mbogo, as the students keenly followed the session.

The LAPSSET Board Chairperson noted that the young task should be futuristic and focus more on how they can be independent in life.

“Remember you are not in school because of your parents, neither are you here because of the teachers, this is indeed about your life take charge and set your goals straight,” he added.

The Leader promised to visit more secondary schools in all the six Sub counties of Jomvu, Changamwe, Likoni, Nyali, Kisauni and Mvita in a bid to meet with students and share with them various ways of excelling in education and in life.

“The ball is in your court. If you want to become a respected person in the society the choice is yours, if you want to become Wakali Kwanza criminal gang leader indeed the choice is yours. To our girls here if you want to be impregnated and drop out of school so that you add more problems to you parents just go ahead but remember the future belongs to you. How you will mould it, is purely up to you,” Mbogo stated without mincing words.

The leader, called for concerted efforts among parents, teachers and students so that apart from improving the education sector in Mombasa, the students also be guided to the right path in life.
