
Baringo Senator William Cheptumo died on Sunday February, 16 while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.
His demise was officially made public by Senate Speaker, Amason Jeffa Kingi.
Kingi, described the late Cheptumo as a dedicated leader, who took up his legislative responsibilities with unmatched zeal and selflessly dedicated himself to the Baringo people and Kenyans.
“The Senate has lost a leader who firmly believed in Devolution and used every opportunity to foreground its cause and the welfare of Kenyans,” said Kingi.
President William Ruto mourned Cheptumo as a progressive leader who was dedicated to public service.
“He was vocal, hardworking and a tireless champion for the transformation of Baringo. The Cheptumo family, friends and the people of Baringo County are in our thoughts and prayers,” said President Ruto.

“With profound shock and grief, I have learnt of the untimely demise of Hon William Kipkorir Cheptumo, Senator of Baringo County at Nairobi Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment. The Senate of Kenya has lost a leader who firmly believed in Devolution and used every opportunity to advance its cause and the welfare of Kenyans,” reiterated Kingi.
He continued, “I join his family, the people of Baringo County and Kenyans, in mourning a great leader and pray that God grants us all grace and fortitude to bear this monumental loss. May his soul rest in perfect peace,”
Kenyans across the country mourned the late Senator stating that his unwavering dedication to public service and his relentless advocacy for his constituents can not go unmentioned.
