Patients at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) on Wednesday gave the Health ministry in Nairobi a close shave over lack of operationalisation of the Social Health Authority (SHA).
The angry patients condemned the Ministry, terming SHA as ‘hot air’
The patients painfully narrated how they have been hopping from one hospital to the other and even to the SHA offices totally getting no response from the government officials.
They further said despite paying their SHA deductions, they from the past week missed critical services with hospital administrations claiming that SHA systems were down.
“Some have come from as far as Mombasa and Kibwezi only to be told that SHA has not been operational since Wednesday last week,” said a vividly angered patient.
“Despite being told to pay six months upfront we are not receiving any services,” said a patient only known as Diana, who had a caesarian section during delivery.
Recently, President William Ruto reassured Kenyans that the challenges facing the new public health insurance scheme would be sorted.
“We are confident that the challenges will be resolved and Kenyans access to health services under Taifa Care without any obstacles,” said President Ruto.
