Human rights lobby Vocal Africa has urged the government to investigate and unearth those behind the murder of over 10 women and dumped their bodies at Kware dumpsite in Mukuru kwa Njenga in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi.
The 10 bodies were retrieved by locals without any gloves, masks or any other health gears.
The decomposing bodies were stashed in sacks, most of them having been cut into pieces, according to locals.
All of the bodies were of women but are yet to be identified. Police as have launched investigations to unearth what could have transpired.
The Friday revelations shocked the country as locals and rights defenders demanded answers from the government following the killings.
“How can a dumpsite located 200 metres away from a police station become a dumpsite for people killed? Are the police unaware of these happenings around them?” posed Vocal Africa Executive Director Hussein Khalid.
Khalid condemned the government for staying numb despite series of police brutality, killings and enforced disappearances.
“Today’s occurrences leave a lot of questions than answers. This is painful and heartbreaking. The government should respond to all our questions and worries over increased police brutality and extrajudicial killings,” added the Human rights defender.
Locals blamed security agencies for failing to stop the killings witnessed in the country.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) has urged police to commence investigations to unleash those behind the killings.
The DPP gave police 21 days to complete investigations and furnish his office with critical information that will lead to legal actions against anyone found culpable of such heinous crime.
The bodies have been take to city mortuary for postmortem.
