A boost for trade as a critical link road is launched in Mombasa

The County Government of Mombasa, in partnership with TradeMark Africa (TMA), the Kingdom of Denmark, and the United Kingdom, today officially launched a newly constructed critical link road at Mombasa Port. This milestone project aims to bolster regional trade and economic growth while significantly improving the livelihoods of residents in Mombasa and the wider Kenyan community.

The newly inaugurated road is set to ease congestion at the port, streamline the movement of goods, and enhance the efficiency of trade logistics. This crucial infrastructure development is expected to boost trade flows not only within Kenya but across the East African region, thereby creating new opportunities for businesses, job creation, and economic development.

Speaking at the launch, H.E. Abdulswamad Sharrif Nassir, Governor of Mombasa, expressed his gratitude for the partnership and highlighted the significance of the project:

“Today marks a pivotal step towards realizing our vision of a modern, efficient, and resilient Mombasa. This road is not just an infrastructural improvement; it is a transformative investment that will catalyze trade, enhance mobility, and foster economic growth for our people. The Kingdom of Denmark and the United Kingdom have been longstanding partners with TradeMark Africa, supporting various projects that enhance trade efficiency across the region. The two nations underscored their commitment to driving growth through trade and reiterated their excitement at being part of this initiative, which directly benefits the people of Mombasa County and beyond.

“Denmark is extremely excited to be part of this initiative of officially opening a critical link road at Mombasa Port, which is driving growth through trade and improving the lives of residents within Mombasa County and beyond. We look forward to more projects that will enable the smooth flow of trade in Kenya,” said a representative of the Kingdom of Denmark.
