A total of 44 passengers narrowly escaped death on Sunday morning after the bus they were travelling in burst into flames near Voi along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.
In a statement issued by the Tahmeed Transport Company management, the bus was from Kitale heading to Malindi before the accident occurred.
“All the passengers were safely evacuated. No injuries were reported during the accident,” read part of the statement.
The driver, his conductor and a third attendant were also safely evacuated.
The affected passengers later boarded an alternative bus provided by the public transport company to their various destinations in Mombasa and other parts of the Coast.
