
The death toll in Saturday accident along the Wundanyi -Taveta road has hit six, this is after two more people died due to severe injuries at the Moi referral Hospital in Voi.
Four students are among those who succumbed to injuries as they were heading home after a fire incident that razed down their dormitory early Saturday.
The school administration took the steps and gave the students early mid-term to allow for proper planning on where the students will sleep.
According to Taita Taveta County Police Commander Ali Ndiema, the bus carrying the students and other passengers development break failure near the Josa blackspot and overturned, killing the driver and three students on the spot and two others died at the Moi referral Hospital in Voi.
“More students are still receiving medication at the same hospital and that of St. Joseph Mission Hospital still in Voi,” said Mr Ndiema.
The double tragedy has sent the school fraternity into mourning the loss of lives.
The bodies of the deceased are preserved at the Moi referral hospital morgue.
Parents and relatives of Dr Aggrey High School flocked the Moi referral hospital in Voi to confirm the unwelcome information, causing even more confusion at the largest health facility, in Voi.
Josa area has witnessed grisly accidents claiming many lives.
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) identified Josa area as a dangerous blackspot, further cautioning motorists to be extra vigilant when approaching the area.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
