A total of 10 families were left homeless on Saturday after a huge fire gutted down their rental house in Kisauni, Mombasa county.

The Saturday mid-morning fire started from one of the rooms and quickly spread to the other nine rooms reducing the entire house to rubbles.

The house is located at Manyani village, in Junda area, Mishomoroni.

Locals united in strength managed to put out the fire, however, they blamed Mombasa county government fire extinguishers for arriving late to help the desparate residents.

“They arrived after we had already put out the fire using our water in buckets, however, we did not salvage anything during the incident,” said a neighbour, Ali Kombo.

No injuries were reported during the incident, all the tenants were safely evacuated from the wrath of huge flames.

Humanity

While visiting the affected families, Former Kisauni Member of Parliament Ali Mbogo, appealed to well-wishers and other political leaders to assist the affected families with humanitarian aid.

Mbogo who gave the affected families a contribution of Ksh.50,000 appealed to his fellow politicians to unite and help the affected families since none salvaged anything from the inferno.

“These families have lost everything from clothes, beddings, school uniforms and books for their school going children. We need urgent humanitarian aid to salvage the situation,” said Mbogo.

The LAPSSET Chairperson urged authorities to investigate and unearth what triggered the fire that caused major destruction of the residential house.

The cause of the fire is yet to be known, however, police have launched investigations to establish what triggered the inferno.
